We have come to the end of the year, and what a year it ended up being! Never in my wildest dreams would I have foreseen a year like this. I do remind myself that this year is not just about how it ended, but it is also about how we spent most of the year together as a classroom in real life with all the experiences of a "regular" fifth grade class. It was there that your children learned how to be a great student, how to make friends, and how we became a 5th grade family.
Online learning has been quite the experiment for me and for your children. Thank goodness for technology which allowed us to continue our classes and assignments online, to the best of our ability.
Fifth grade is a "milestone' year as it is the last year of elementary school, so our school and the PTA are working on a "drive-by" promotion celebration for our students. The details are still being worked out, but I have some dates and times for you to plan ahead.
Date: Monday, June 1
Device Return and Personal Belongings Pick-Up
Bring back the Chromebooks, charger cords, hotspots (if used), and library/classroom books. Please place a label with tape on the Chromebook with your child's name, teacher, and grade. At this time you will pick up your child's belongings from the classroom as well.
Date: Monday, June 1st
5th Grade Promotion Drive-by Celebration
You will receive more information from the school about the particulars of this event very soon.
It has been a pleasure to be your child's teacher this year. I wil never forget my quarantine kids and will always remember the resiliency and perseverence of the class of 2020.
